A daily routine will maximize your training results. Studies have proven that investing as little as 15 minutes every day will make a big difference. Following is a list of ideas. It’s not necessary to do everything on this list every day. Your goal should be to do something every day.
Vocabulary practice
I love and highly recommend vocabulary.com. It’s a dictionary plus an interactive (and slightly addictive) game. If you’ve purchased any training from me, you and I will interact on the site. I’ll create customized vocabulary lists, quizzes and contests based on the training that we are doing together. If you’ve never purchased training from me, you can still use the site without my guidance. It’s a great tool and completely free to use.
Feedback review
The feedback that I give you is a goldmine of opportunity for you. I provide permanent copies of my feedback to all of my students. Don’t just review it once and forget it. Practice with it several times. Go back a few days or weeks later and practice with it again. My feedback is prioritized based on your goals and your needs, so reviewing my feedback is a highly efficient way for you to practice every day.
Read something
Read silently. Read aloud. Read about any topic that’s interesting to you. Choose a level that is not too difficult. Daily reading in English should be pleasurable.
Listen to something
Find a podcast that’s interesting to you. Find a host who is easy for you to understand. If your level of English is Intermediate or higher, I recommend that you download the NPR One app. It’s free. You can get the day’s news in 3 minutes, or you can find a longer podcast on just about any topic. Listen while you do the dishes or while you’re at the gym.
Write something
Construct and write a few sentences using new vocabulary. Set a regular time to do it. And set a measurable goal. For example, when you first arrive at work every day, spend five minutes writing three sentences using three new words. Writing practice supports speaking practice. If you want to expand your active vocabulary, write.
Speak about something
It can be challenging to find opportunities to speak with someone in English. Live training sessions are one good way to do it. WhatsApp training with feedback is another convenient option.
