Let’s take a look at some of the language (highlighted below) that Wendy uses in her talk. Use the context (and a dictionary if necessary) to understand the vocabulary. Then, consider each question. Speaking out loud, practice answering them.
- Imagine that you arrive at a business conference, and you’re not sure if you should wear the badge with your name on it or not. What would you do? Would you look around to see if others are wearing their name badges? How is this an example of an environmental cue?
- How much money would someone need to give you to have an impact on your life? Whose life do you have an impact on?
- How do you imagine your future self?
- What problems in your life do you need to get a handle on?
- What frequent purchases do you make that you could do without if needed?
- If someone told you their business deal suffered death by a thousand cuts, what do you think that means?
- If your department is $4,000 in the hole, what does that mean?
- Think of the following powers. Which of these powers would you most like to harness? Why?
- The power to improve your own life.
- The power to improve other people’s lives.
- The power to be very productive.
- The power to make decisions.
